About Balm of Gilead Health and Wellness
An outpatient mental health facility led by Dr. Chinwe Okudo, a doctoral-prepared family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. The center supports minors (ages 5-18) and adults (18+) dealing with a wide range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and co-existing conditions. Services are rooted in whole-person care, helping clients strengthen emotional wellness, manage symptoms, and live more balanced lives. The center also serves individuals coping with grief and memory-related conditions like dementia.
Whole-Person Care
Clients at Balm of Gilead receive personalized treatment through psychiatric rehabilitation services (PRP), which include therapy sessions, education, and practical support. PRP for minors (ages 5–18) involves 3-4 one-hour visits each month, tailored to their treatment plan through structured activities delivered on-site or in the community. Adults (18+) receive 6 one-hour visits monthly focused on skill-building, medication education, and behavioral support. Soon, the Health Home program will launch to coordinate care for Medicaid-eligible clients with chronic or mental health conditions using a whole-person approach.
Community-Based Support
All services are offered while clients remain in their homes, helping them stay engaged in their daily routines and communities. Support is delivered in both on-site and off-site settings, depending on the client’s age and treatment plan. By focusing on real-life goals and day-to-day progress, Balm of Gilead empowers clients to grow more independent, manage daily challenges, and take control of their mental health journey in a stable, supportive environment.
