Nova Vida is a beautiful facility on the southern coast of Portugal. Founded in 2007, this facility offers adult men and women help with drug and alcohol addictions and dual diagnoses. This luxury facility uses English as its primary language in treatment. For clients who are feeling withdrawal symptoms, they are referred to Nova Vida’s off-site detox program for monitoring. Treatment at Nova Vida is individualized and can last between 28 and 60 days. The average length of stay is 32 days and can cost around €20,000. The therapy is 12-Step oriented, and clients are encouraged to participate in group sessions. Clients get 40 hours of both group and individualized therapy each week, group meetings daily, AA meetings daily as well as individual therapy typically once a week. Nova Vida’s counselors use a few different therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), relapse prevention, biofeedback, and educational therapy.
Nova Vida is a dual diagnosis program and offers outpatient treatment for co-occurring disorders such as anxiety and depression. The outpatient program is open to young adults and adolescents, and they also provide couples counseling. Nova Vida has a speciality program for burnout pilots known as “Flight Deck”. They also treat eating disorders and stress.
Nova Vida’s facility is on a hill overlooking the gorgeous coast, and it has a very modern interior. All the bedrooms are private and feature a large queen sized bed, air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom, and either have a balcony or private terrace that have ocean views. Nova Vida has a large living room, on-site fitness room, personal trainers, walking trails, beautiful gardens, and a swimming pool.
An on-site chef prepares meals for Nova Vida using local ingredients. The facility provides clients with 3 meals a day that are nutritionally dense, and they can accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions.
