La Causa
About La Causa
La Causa in Milwaukee provides outpatient mental health and substance use treatment for children, adolescents, and adults, including individuals with co-occurring disorders. Services are delivered through a person-centered, culturally responsive approach that supports individuals and families in building healthier routines, emotional regulation, and long-term stability.
Treatment is provided on an outpatient basis and focuses on therapeutic counseling rather than inpatient or medical detox services. Care is individualized to meet each client’s needs and may include family involvement and community-based supports when appropriate.
Evidence-Based Therapeutic Approaches
La Causa’s outpatient therapy incorporates a range of evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities, including:
- Client-centered therapy
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Motivational interviewing (MI)
- Family systems therapy
- Mindfulness-based approaches
- Solution-focused and strengths-based therapy
- Psychoeducation
- Psychodynamic and trauma-informed care (TIC)
These approaches help clients build insight, coping skills, and resilience while supporting recovery and overall well-being.
Additional Supportive Services
Beyond outpatient therapy, La Causa offers complementary community and family support programs, including care coordination for youth, wraparound services, and employment and education support through select programs.
La Causa also operates the Crisis Nursery & Respite Center, a separate service that provides free, short-term emergency and respite care for children ages 0–12 when families are experiencing crisis or high stress. This program is designed to ensure child safety and family stability and is not a clinical mental health or addiction treatment service.
