About Piedmont Macon Medical Center
Recognizing that good mental health is as vital to quality of life as physical health, Piedmont Macon serves adults 18 and older, treating conditions that range from depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder to PTSD, psychosis, schizophrenia, and substance use. The program offers inpatient, day, and outpatient treatment, with plans shaped around each person's diagnosis.
Substance Use Programs
Weekly on-site 12-Step meetings are part of the inpatient experience, and discharge planning includes connecting patients to community meetings near home. The partial hospitalization program (PHP) delivers 6 structured group sessions daily, covering topics such as cognitive-behavioral coping skills, relapse prevention, medication education, and the disease concept of addiction.
Outpatient Behavioral Program
Piedmont Macon operates an outpatient program providing treatment for suicidal ideation, mood disturbances, and thought disorders including bipolar and schizophrenia, as well as support for individuals transitioning out of inpatient substance use treatment. Clients participate primarily in group therapy throughout the day alongside peers with similar experience.
