About Boston Children's Hospital ASAP
Located in the Longwood Medical Area in Boston, the Adolescent Substance Use and Addiction Program (ASAP) of Boston Children's Hospital treats teens with addiction through outpatient care led by pediatric specialists. Care focuses on alcohol, opioids, nicotine, cannabis, and other substances, with teens and parents actively involved throughout treatment.
Structured Addiction Treatment Services
Clinicians conduct evaluations across several appointments, then provide individual counseling, group therapy, parent guidance, drug testing, case management, and medication-supported recovery for cravings and withdrawal symptoms. The team conducts drug testing as part of treatment, with follow-up visits included.
Family-Based Treatment Support
Parents provide behavioral support at home with guidance from clinicians. Boston Children’s Hospital ASAP provides psychopharmacology for co-occurring conditions and medical consultation for families working with outside providers. The program supports collaboration with an existing mental health support team.
