More About Rehabs in a City

Explore Treatment Centers

Attending rehab in a city offers a variety of recovery services and benefits that you may not get off the grid. Your potential treatment center could even be in your city.

Benefits of a City Rehab

Urban addiction and mental health treatment offers resources you might not get in the countryside. Some of the benefits include:

  • Access to a range of treatment services: City-based rehabilitation centers provide access to a range of mental health and addiction services, including individual therapy, group therapy, medication management, and family counseling.
  • Convenient location: City rehabs are often conveniently located near public transportation and other amenities, making them easily accessible to people who need help.
  • Increased access to resources: Urban rehabilitation centers often have access to a broader range of resources than those located in rural areas. This includes access to specialized professionals, such as psychiatrists, as well as support services, such as housing and employment resources.
  • Support from the local community: In a city, patients can take advantage of the local community. This can include finding support from local churches, support groups, and other recovery oriented organizations.
  • Connecting with peers in recovery: After residential rehab, you’ll have access to various aftercare options such as sober living homes and outpatient programs. Staying in the same city as your inpatient center keeps you connected with other alumni and peers in recovery.

Cost of a City Rehab

The cost of your program will depend on location and level of care. A 7-day detox program can typically cost $1,000-$3,000. Urban residential programs can average around $5,000-$30,000 for a 30 day stay. Intensive outpatient treatment such as a partial hospitalization program (PHP) could be $5,000-$20,000 for a month, while a less intensive outpatient program could cost  $2,000-$10,000.

Talk directly with the rehab’s admissions team to determine the total cost of their services. Many centers accept insurance to cover partial or full payment for their services. You can also contact your insurance provider to see what your plan covers.

Finding Recovery in a City Rehab

There are resources available to support your recovery process. Visit your primary care practitioner for rehab referrals and a substance abuse and/or mental health evaluation. They can recommend rehabs in your city based on your treatment needs or point you toward another professional who can help. You can also call the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) national helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357) to chat with an agent about treatment services in your area.

To begin your recovery journey, start by browsing rehabs in your city. Search for your city and specific condition(s) on Recovery.com to find a list of urban treatment centers that provide care for your specific needs.
