About Geisinger Behavioral Health Northeast
For those needing a high level of support in healing from mental health disorders, Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast offers inpatient psychiatric treatment for teens (ages 13 to 17) and adults (18+), as well as a PHP program. Highly qualified health professionals of various backgrounds are committed to providing compassionate, trauma-informed care in a safe and secure environment so people can “define their strengths, meet their goals, and sustain healing.”
Geisinger helps patients with conditions, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While they primarily treat mental health disorders, they may accept patients with co-occurring substance use disorders.
The goals of acute inpatient treatment at Geisinger are stabilization and improved daily functioning. It’s ideal for those with severe or ongoing mental health symptoms needing intensive (24/7) and immediate care. Admissions requires a primary psychiatric diagnosis by a physician and the program typically lasts 5 to 7 days.
For those who do not need 24/7 support, their partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides care 5 days a week during the day for 7 to 12 weeks. Patients balance treatment with outside life and return home each evening.
A strengths-based treatment approach encourages patients to identify and make the most use of their inherent strengths to meet their goals. Through individual, group, and family therapy, evidence-based therapies, as well as experiential therapies like art and recreational therapy, a team of professionals delivers personalized treatment.
Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast is located in Moosic, Pennsylvania, between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, in the scenic Wyoming Valley. The center is surrounded by natural landmarks, including the Lackawanna River and Montage Mountain. The area is well-connected by major highways like I-80, I-81, and I-476, making it accessible from across Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
Patients stay in spacious, comfortable rooms and get to take in the views of Montage Mountain.
