Roger Oser
Roger Oser was the founding Principal of William J. Ostiguy High School, the first recovery high school in the nation to receive national accreditation. Since its opening in 2006, Ostiguy High has focused on serving adolescents in recovery from substance use disorder, using a peer-driven, adolescent-centered framework. The school’s model is built on a foundation of recovery culture and trauma-sensitive practices, creating safe spaces where students and families can pursue their goals in education and recovery. Roger has long believed in the power of community involvement and partnerships. He has served as Chair of both the Association for Recovery Schools (ARS) and the Boston Youth Service Network, work that has allowed him to combine his passion for supporting at-risk adolescents and families with systems-level advocacy for equitable education and recovery services.
In 2024, Roger transitioned from his role as Principal of Ostiguy High to expand
his impact nationally. Since November 2024, he has provided technical assistance and professional development on behalf of ARS to 14
school collaborations across six states, supporting both new and established
recovery high schools in their development and implementation efforts.
