About 1st Step Recovery Center - West Broadway
1st Step Recovery – West Broadway is a men-only treatment center in Louisville, KY, helping those receiving Kentucky Medicaid on their journeys to lasting wellness and stability. This DOC-approved program offers residential and outpatient care for men with co-occurring substance use and serious mental illness (SMI). Men on probation or parole can earn good time credit upon successful completion, gaining support for long-term recovery and a fresh start.
The program uses a structured, evidence-based approach that includes individual and group counseling, peer support, trauma therapy, and 12-Step groups. These services help men gain tools to manage addiction, improve mental health, and rebuild their lives with purpose and responsibility.
Men in the residential program stay in a comfortable, male-only setting with shared or private rooms and clean bathrooms. Healthy meals are provided daily. Common areas, such as the peaceful sanctuary and on-site gym, give space for connection, quiet time, and fitness. Transportation support is available for eligible clients.
Located within the same former church building, the West Broadway classroom facility gives clients a quiet, focused space to build life skills, complete program work, and attend group sessions. This setting supports recovery through education, accountability, and peer connection.
