About New Leaf Behavioral Health
Closing gaps in access to affordable counseling led to the founding of New Leaf Behavioral Health, a nonprofit in Raleigh, North Carolina. They provide outpatient counseling for children, adolescents, and adults, addressing depression, anxiety, ADHD, and obsessive and compulsive behaviors. Therapists also help clients work through trauma, grief, eating disorders, and the emotional effects of chronic illness. Their counseling extends to substance use, relationship difficulties, parenting, and life transitions.
Individual Goals and Family Participation
Therapists work 1-on-1 with clients to explore feelings and behaviors, identify changes, and set goals. For children and adolescents, they combine talk therapy with play therapy and regularly consult parents about progress and concerns. Family sessions address communication and conflict, while couples counseling examines relationship patterns and expectations. They also offer groups for children and adults. When clients want to explore medication, therapists connect them with their network of psychiatrists.
Statewide Teletherapy and Reduced Fees
Clients can attend the Raleigh office or connect through secure video sessions anywhere in North Carolina. New Leaf offers daytime, evening, and weekend appointments. They accept most major insurance plans, including Medicaid, but exclude Medicare and new employee assistance program authorizations. Their income-based Reduced Fee Program serves uninsured clients and those with limited benefits, with rates as low as $5 per session. Staff verify benefits and provide monthly superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
