About Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Counseling Center
Located in Midtown Manhattan, Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Counseling Center supports people with cancer, including those receiving care at MSK or elsewhere, as well as their families, caregivers, and friends. Psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other specialists provide individual, couples, family, and group counseling. Services include caregiver support, psychiatry, mindfulness-based therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, sexual therapy, and bereavement counseling.
Caring for Mind and Body
The team helps clients manage anxiety, depression, grief, distress, insomnia, fatigue, pain, and emotional changes related to cancer and its treatment. Counseling can also address psychiatric complications, caregiver stress, sexual health concerns, and adjustment to illness. Psychiatrists can manage psychiatric medications, while cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapies, and supportive counseling help clients cope with changes and stress.
Support for Every Stage
MSK Counseling Center also provides specialized support for older adults, caregivers, and people grieving a loved one. Caregiver services include individual, group, and family counseling, while bereavement programs offer support groups, lectures, and referrals. Spiritual Care Services provide confidential, multi-faith support for questions about meaning, identity, purpose, grief, and end-of-life decisions. Some psychiatry visits are available through secure telemedicine, while older adults can access geriatric, rehabilitation, and nutrition services.
