About Cygnet Rhyd Alyn
Admission to Cygnet Health Care is not open to direct self-referral; the organization does not accept patients who contact the facilities directly to arrange their own treatment. As a primary partner to the NHS and local authorities, Cygnet Health Care operates almost exclusively through professional referrals funded by public health bodies. Prospective patients require a formal referral from a licensed healthcare provider, such as a General Practitioner (GP), social worker, or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), to secure a placement. Individuals seeking care at a Cygnet facility must work with their existing medical team to facilitate an assessment and subsequent admission.
The team at Cygnet is dedicated to providing a positive and comfortable experience and atmosphere, with specialised high support inpatient rehabilitation for women experiencing mental illness, with a focus on achieving community reintegration. Ideal candidates have a mental health diagnosis such as schizophrenia, mood or personality disorders, bipolar, and depression, who have previous failed treatment attempts, or who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Their program is best suited for women with a primary mental illness diagnosis, who may be enduring complex co-occurring disorders including substance abuse, a mild learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, or may require long-term care for acute mental health needs. Women may have a history of treatment resistance, complex comorbidities, or are victims of sexual or domestic violence.
Their program utilises various therapies like psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, occupational therapy, art therapy, drama therapy and other complementary therapies for a personalised approach. The programs at Cygnet emphasise patient-centred care by actively involving patients in their treatment plans, and all aspects of life while recovering.
Community Rehabilitation
Cygnet’s Rhyd Alyn location is a 6-bed community rehabilitation service (level 1), designed as a transitional program for women who are ready to step down from their Delfryn Lodge Hospital to receive a lower level of care. Rhyd Alyn will also accept referrals from outside programs or directly from the community. Their safe, home-like environment allows women to continue their recovery journeys with reduced intervention from staff as they transition back into an independent lifestyle.
Their facility is set amid the rolling hills of Flintshire, in a spacious detached property overlooking serene scenic views in the countryside. Each individual is encouraged to decorate and personalise their private ensuite room. Clients have access to large communal living areas and lounges, dining room and kitchen. Additionally, women have access to a full-size gym and a spa at their Delfryn Lodge located next door. Clients are strongly encouraged to seek vocational employment and assert their independence as they practise their newly-learned skills.
With a blend of occupational therapy, psychology and clinical interventions, Cygnet Rhyd Alyn provides a balanced approach, helping women enhance their personal and professional skills and rebuild their lives.
