About Cygnet Aspen House
The team at Cygnet is dedicated to providing a positive and comfortable experience and atmosphere, with specialised high support inpatient rehabilitation for women experiencing mental illness, with a focus on achieving community reintegration. Ideal candidates have a mental health diagnosis such as schizophrenia, mood or personality disorders, bipolar, and depression, who have previous failed treatment attempts, or who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Their program is best suited for women with a primary mental illness diagnosis, who may be enduring complex co-occurring disorders including substance abuse, a mild learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, or may require long-term care for acute mental health needs. Women may have a history of treatment resistance, complex comorbidities, or are victims of sexual or domestic violence.
Their program utilises various therapies like psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, occupational therapy, art therapy, drama therapy and other complementary therapies for a personalised approach. The programs at Cygnet emphasise patient-centred care by actively involving patients in their treatment plans, and all aspects of life while recovering.
Women 18 and older reside in their main ward, a 20-bed facility with ensuite bathrooms and access to communal living spaces, a beauty salon, dedicated therapy spaces, a gym and a large comfortable lounge area. Outside the facility, they have beautiful and spacious garden areas with outdoor seating and a polytunnel for growing plants and vegetables.
Their facility is conveniently located near shopping facilities, and a leisure centre offering swimming and sports activities, with the use of nearby local colleges for educational courses. Aspen House places a strong emphasis on financial management and budgeting skills, with a range of internal therapeutic earning positions offering clients the opportunity to apply, interview, and take responsibility for a suitable job while in treatment.
With a blend of occupational therapy, psychology and clinical interventions, Cygnet Aspen House provides a balanced approach, helping women enhance their personal and professional skills and rebuild their lives.
